St David's
I didn't wake til 9am after a great sleep. S took J to doctor about her abscess and it turned out they needed to go to hospital to sort it out so I had the day to myself.
I took my super detailed OS maps and trundled off in the car, taking the coast road with some great views all the way round to Solva and then St David's. I immediately found a super gift shop and bought a couple of things for me and S and Co. (as a thank you). I then descended through a field to enter the cathedral through the back route. The cathedral is really beautiful. The carved wooden roof is spectacular and it is a little gem.
I had lunch in the cafe and bought a few artisan pieces. Having decided to leave the rest for another time, as the beach was beckoning, I wound my way back to Broad Haven, changed and went straight down to the beach as the tide was right out and there were some great waves. (My blip is of the village we're staying in. The flat is just behind the bright yellow surf shop building.)
While it is still quite windy it was warm and rather refreshing. I reckon the air temperature was about 20C and the sea about 19C. The sea certainly didn't feel cold but just right for me. I dropped my bag by the life guard and went in. I spent an hour swimming against the current (so going nowhere!), diving through waves and swimming over waves and it was the best fun. So invigorating. I only got out when I got cramp in one leg!
I got back to the flat ahead of the others and showered. I also made a school girl error of hanging my wet kit out of the window to drip dry and, of course, it fell onto the flat roof below. J had to hang out of the window with a brolley to retrieve it, with S and I holding onto his legs!
We went to the Ocean Cafe on the front for a delicious dinner then watched an hour or so of telly (mainly waiting for the weather forecast!) while reading some trashy gossip mags before bed.
