Ancient and Modern

These are marking gauges. The old one was bought with money given me for my 21st birthday. It's had a fair amount of use by me, and one of the dogs in my life used it as a teething stick.

I feel a little ashamed to say that I've fallen for the younger model -- the cutting wheel tracks more easily than the sharp point on the old one -- and it is rather attractive. Still, it's hard to let the old one go.
