Death in the herd

I saw this cow laying here when I walked Jinxy this morning and what with all the other cows giving birth I thought she was about to have a calf. On our afternoon walk she was still in the same place with her head up. This evening we walked past this place and she was dead. All the other cows were gathered around her, rather like you see elephants do when one of their number had died.

We tried to locate the farmer by calling at the nearest farm but was just met with indifference. We did get a name and an area but no telephony number. and our attempts failed to locate him. Lets hope he will come to check them tomorrow.
