Drifting

At midnight last night I was woken by heavy rainfall outside, it continued for about an hour, by which time I was up and looking out of the window at the grass slowly disappearing under water. I started to wonder how much it would need to rain before the canal burst its banks! Thankfully it didn't rain that much and by morning all was calm. On the canal, this lone fuschia flower drifted in the breeze. It looked a rather nice way to travel.

My day has been one of drifting from one thing to another - I took an impromptu day off work and spent time cooking and reading and generally catching up with things. What a luxury.

I deliberately over exposed the water in this photo - to try and bring out the colour of the fuschia flower and to emphasise the calmness of the scene.
