Another from the family archives
My wife's great-grandfather was a Sergeant Farrier with the Royal Artillery prior the siege of Ladysmith November 1899.
He took his discharge from the RA, and set up his business as a farrier and general smith in the town, where he remained with his wife and young family during the siege.
He is pictured in the centre of the group in the photograph.
The original photograph was taken by one H B Turnbull.
I would like to take the photograph to our local Museum of Military History, where I am sure one of their experts could identify the units of the horsemen pictured.
