Bad Hair Day

As with many birds at the moment, the peregrines are molting. Growing new feathers takes a lot of energy and now that the young have been reared and before winter starts seems like a sensible time. The adults sit for long periods preening and as in this blip of the female they occasionally shake to free the loose feathers.

She is still looking good after the hair do though as can be seen here in blipfolio
