The Day Christmas Came Early

We were woken at just after 6 a.m. this morning by a pitter-pattering noise:was it the sound of reindeer hooves on the roof? No, it was the dripping of water through our bedroom ceiling, dangerously close to the electrics of our gas boiler.

Shortly after I was desperately casting aside the boxes with all the Christmas decorations from under the eaves in the loft in an effort to locate the source of the leak. I think Tess will confirm that my mood (& language) was far from festive!

Despite chasing them up every week, we've been waiting since March for the roofing company to come and replace our ageing , leaky roof; an early morning call finally persuaded them of the urgency of the situation and they've promised us that the scaffolders will be with us next week and a temporary repair in place on Friday. Our next job is to remove all the other rubbish treasured items that are under the loft roof before they start the work.

Anyway, thought I'd become the first person to post a Christmas blip this year - a little too early, perhaps!
