Progress
I had a meeting with the ministry of education today along with Marley's teacher and the special education needs Co ordinator.
Because Marley has Ptsd and separation anxiety disorder it's interfered with some aspects of his life that affect him at school.
Sounds heavy but really it's not. Marley has made a HUGE amount of progress this year.
Initially when he started there were quite a few goals for him that have now been accomplished. So we moved on from the big problems to the little things.
Socially, they want Marley to initiate conversations and interactions with other children, they want him to engage more instead of be alongside. School are going to work on it so I'm pleased with that.
The other thing that they want him to do is just have more independence writing on his own which he does do but not consistently. They want him to form more of a story and complete sentences.
That's it. They're the main points, the minor points are concentration - he gets bored/ distracted easily and starts drawing little doodles instead of writing. And questions- asking more inquisitive ones - what's happening? What's next? And incorporating this into writing and talking as sometimes he's unclear with what he wants to say/write.
He's doing really well otherwise. Meeting all expectations within the curriculum. They've said that they feel Marley doesn't have a lot of self confidence ( which we noticed at home too) and that he gets upset if he writes a letter incorrectly.
I feel for him and his anxiety, his worries and fears. I feel like these disorders have changed him so much- the earthquakes have changed him so much.
Kanye and andre were home today sick, chest infections have got them both.
Didn't get much sleep with all the coughing in the house.
