Tugboat Taurus Moving through Large Lock

8/11/2014 ~ Tugboat Taurus Pushing 400 foot section of the Washington State Route 520 Floating Bridge Through the Large Lock of the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks, Ballard Neighborhood, Seattle, WA

Walk through the Ballard Locks last evening and caught a tugboat pushing through a section of the SR 520 floating bridge which is going through an update. With the tug and Bridge section it was 480 feet. There was also a large barge with a crane and a tugboat placed in behind the Taurus and just about every foot of the 80 x 825 foot / 24.4 x 251.5 meter large lock was full. Quite an impressive site. This image was taken just as the Taurus was beginning to push the bridge section out of the lock.

B&W version in honor of monochrome Monday and the color version can be seen here.

Weather finally broke later in the evening with some thunder storms and rain.

Life is Grand!
