The Swimmer

A swimming race is a new addition to the Regatta. Entrants have to register at 6 am for a 6.30 start; either 1 or 2k in length. The river is closed and the race is marshalled by a number of people in kayaks. Wet suits were the order of the day, and amazingly- to me- there were more than 100 entrants. Swimming in a wet suit with goggles on with mouth occasionally breaking the surface for a gulp of air does not make for the most beautiful of portraits. And you have to be quick.
