The gas man cometh

The gas men came two weeks ago to do necessary work on the pipework in our road. The electricity men came yesterday, to do unspecified work. The plumbers came today to drill a hole in the wall, whilst the gas men dug yet another hole in our front garden. The phrase "I've never had anything like this happen in all the years I've been doing this job" was uttered by one of the gas men.
