Central London butterfly
A great start to the day as me and my fellow bus passengers got a great view of muntjac deer in the cemetery on the way to the station. They’ve been there for many years – son number one used to see them on his way to school too. Nice to have an unexpected wildlife moment on the commute.
The trains are much quieter on a Friday and now we are into August, they are markedly empty. Lived the commuter dream and had a double seat to myself both ways today. Nice to be able to spread out a bit and not be squashed up against another hot body while it is so warm.
Went back to Gordon Square to eat my lunch and try and find an insect picture for the #100daysofnature project being run by BBC Springwatch on Twitter. This butterfly was very obliging, though a bit flighty. I’m always surprised about the wildlife that you can find in some of the central London squares. Lots of hoverflies were visiting these daisies too.
