Congratulations Number 10
Tonight was the draw night for the “100 Club” of our village’s Memorial Hall.
If you don’t know what a 100 Club is, it is where 100 people (or could be 200 but then it’s a “200 Club”!) each buy a number which then goes into a monthly draw. 5o% of the potential takings goes to the monthly prizes, and the balance goes to whatever good cause the 100 Club is for.
In our case it is for the running of and ongoing improvements to our Memorial Hall. If less than 100 numbers are sold, the full amount still goes to the prizes, and the fund just gets the balance, so it’s important to sell all of the tickets.
We normally make the monthly draw at an event in the village – e.g. the last one was at our summer barbeque, and it is often done at the WI meeting. However, in August there are no “events” planned, no W.I., and lots of people are on holiday.
I duly met up this evening with another 3 members of the committee to draw the prize numbers, so it could be seen to be fair and above board.
And the first ball out of the box was – number 10.
Number 10 just happens to have been purchased by a pair of Blippers (who shall remain anonymous for fear of begging Blippers) who are at this moment away for a few days. I shall therefore leave it to Blip to notify them of their good fortune i.e. a prize of £100, and to remind them of their luck when we go for our next Friday “Huff” (a.k.a. drink).
Cheers!!
