Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Woke this morning with a mega headache which refused to go despite painkillers, temperature thankfully settled down, phew, and my visit to the Chemo unit for my PICC line flush was uneventful although they all wanted to know how long I was kept in for last week! Apparently the side ward I was in is the only one on that ward without a TV which got me thinking that perhaps I should do some fund raising to get one, I didn't find it too bad as I was able to read and my tablet allowed me to get full use of the free WiFi but I could imagine it could be very lonely if you didn't have anything to occupy you........

Matthew was due to re-fit a clapper at Turville Church this evening (used in the Vicar of Dibley) so I thought I would go with him and get some fresh air and take Ted for a potter around the church and village while he worked. We were met by a chap who I used to ring with a lot when I first started to ring, he since moved out of the district so I don't see him so much. He is currently undergoing radiotherapy for prostrate cancer......so many people affected by this disease it is frightening.

The village is very picturesque and is used for a lot of filming. Above the village, and actually in the village of Ibstone, sits this Smock Mill, which was used in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!!

Some into from www.windmillworld.com

"Ibstone windmill, a smock mill, last worked during the First World War. However it gained a new lease of life in 1967 when it was fitted with mock sails and fantail in preparation for its appearance in the feature film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, as the workshop of the inventor, Caractacus Potts. (And based on visual evidence from the film, the sails were remarkably efficient, managing to keep the mill turning at all times of the day or night, despite the absence of sailcloth, and scarcely needing any wind at all to turn!)"
