And the rains came... and came...and came
I took this shot at the beginning of the storm. It got much, much worse than this. After this, I was shoveling water (with a wide snow shovel) away from the house as fast as I could to keep from having the house flooded. The water came within 2 feet of the front door, but I was able to push enough away that it didn't come any closer.
As you look at this picture, you can see where the water flow skips the curb and dumps right into our driveway, down the side of the driveway to back up in front of our house. There is a drain there, but it clogs. I was reaching into over 3 feet of water about every 10 seconds trying to keep it from clogging - that is when I was shoveling the water off the side of the walkway down the hill - where it is supposed to go.
After doing this for over 45 minutes, the rain abated and eventually stopped. Then, like the cavalry coming to save the homesteaders, my friend D showed up with sandbags loaded in his trailer. He then proceeded to sandbag in front of my garage and house so that, hopefully, I won't have to do this again.
J, in the meantime, and who is still in Colorado, called our property manager and had a "discussion" with her. She really didn't care about it. The homeowner's association will fix our driveway and walkway when they feel like it.
So, I am going to be contacting my attorney tomorrow. I am fed up with trying to wait on this homeowner's association. This has gone on for 10 years. Enough is enough!
Sorry for the rant, but I am tired and in great pain right now. Time for an ibuprofen, a glass of wine and a comfy chair.
Oh, and this is only the first thunderstorm. We are supposed to have these kinds of thunderstorms all night and tomorrow too!
I hope that you have a wonderful evening!
