River Wye at Symonds Yat East
At summer levels there is plenty of water for the canoeists to practice their skills on the rapids which they are quickly approaching.
Out of about six craft which passed us just downstream from here one hadn't any passengers aboard. They were all swimming, trying to catch the wayward canoe, all in lifejackets and chaperoned by instructors.
We were on a walk approximately three miles in length which started at the Saracen's Head pub, seen in the distance. First crossing at the ferry moored at the steps and walked downstream and re-crossed over a cable bridge at Biblins youth camp, returning on the East bank.
A great day out.
