Out in Bertha
Weather's been interesting last night and today in Ullapool. When it died down a bit we bundled Ivy up in a pram suit and took her out to look at the sea. She very much enjoyed the wind ruffling her hair and was grinning away- but my camera would only focus after we'd got her hood back up.
No damage or flooding to us here- people put up pictures on facebook of a flooded shore street but it was fine again when we went down in the afternoon. Didn't take a trip to the allotment- because the bridge over the river was a tad inaccesible... We have friends in lochside stuff on the wrong side of a landslide and awaiting rescue. Water went off for a bit, but we had filled some jugs and the kettle in advance. I went to tesco, where it looked like some people were panic buying, and cameback with a packet of cookies and some milk- which Euan found amusing.
We were playing a game of carcasonne, whilst Ivy played with her bricks when Tim arrived at our door- he was trying to get south but the road just out of the village was shut by landslips and a burst river that brought boulders with it. He was considering a 2 hour diversion North to get past. He and I went down to the chipshop to get tea, whilst Euan put Ivy to bed where we were chatting to a lady who had been camping in a tent last night, and now just desperatly wanted to go home. It looked like traffic was moving out the village again, but noone was sure- so I went and stopped a car in the road (poor man thought I was going to turn him back I think) and asked (in french in the end) if the road was open. Was open on one side- so after Tea Tim set off, but 5 minutes after he left we heard the road was shut again by 4 more landslips- so I don't know if he made it afterall.
