The Setting for the Setting of the Super Moon
Once again I was out before daybreak hoping to catch the moon. The sky was mostly cloudy, with tantalising glimpses of bits of the moon. I hung about in the dark for the best part of half an hour, my fingers crossed that there would be a suitable gap near the hills. There was, but the old problem of too much contrast bugged me again. I could get the clouds and trees, or I could get the moon alone in the inky blackness. Dammit, I thought, I’ll sacrifice the moon for a change.
So here it is. As I saw it the moon was not a white disc, but a pale golden ball, faintly marked in a slightly darker gold. It was utterly beautiful.
