Taken by moonlight alone

Tonight there was a 'Supermoon' I took the moon itself at about 9pm when there was still some light in the sky. This was going to be my blip and I was going to have an early night so was downloading it at 10.30 when the website went off - would have to try in a few minutes. I then let the dogs out and the moonlight was fantastic so I decided to take some photos. I used manual setting of 30seconds at f4 with 400 ISO. This photo, of the public footpath outside my garden gate, has not been adjusted except to straighten it - it is full frame exactly as it came off the camera. This is the ivy covered garden fence - with my shadow deliberately included to prove it is only the moonlight - no additional lighting.
What struck me when I looked at the result is the depth of colour - we tend to think of moonlight as silvery-white making everything look monochrome - but the camera sees the full colours. As a child I had to learn by heart and recite Walter de la Mare's poem 'Silver' which starts " Slowly, silently, now the moon walks the night in her silvery shoon. This way and that she peers, and sees, silver fruit upon silver trees" Obviously she didn't have a digital camera or she would have seen red fruit on green trees!
Now 11.49 - so much for the early night!
