Another on the fence

For the last four days a young starling with a damaged wing and leg has been wandering around the garden pecking at the grass and among the shrubs. Normally the starlings come in family groups but the others just ignore this one so we have become quite concerned about it and have left some food for it. It seems to be getting stronger now and can fly up on to the bird table and has even managed now to get up on the fence.
This afternoon I was looking through the window at other birds on the feeders when they suddenly all flew off. A sparrowhawk had arrived. Fortunately the little starling was in its favourite place in the covered bird table sheltering from the rain so it was safe. There is plenty for the sparrowhawk in the fields across the road so I hope our little starling manages to get strong enough to escape its clutches.
