Serving fish soup
The population of Dalvík is nearly 2.000 and the local economy is mostly based upon the fisheries and fish processing. One weekend in August the population change when thousands of people come from all over the country to take part in the festival "Fiskidagurinn Mikli" - The Great Fish Day - . It's an annual festival in Dalvíkurbyggð where everybody is invited to a sea food buffet and nobody has to pay. The reason for this generous offer is to get as many people as possible together to taste fish and enjoy a good day in Dalvík. The Great Fish Day is held on the first or second Saturday in August but on the day before some of the local people living in this small town invite the guest to taste a fish soup at their home. This time it was raining but everyone was enjoying the soup.
