Between the showers
The Peak District is full of purple heather at the moment. All over the Snake Pass area yesterday and today this is Longdendale above the village of Tintwistle pronounced Tinsel by the locals.
The rain came and stopped and then started again in the gap we nipped out for a walk and were rewarded with a bit of sunshine and saw lots of birds out trying to make use of the time as well. Lovely to see 2 Wheatear and a Merlin low over the ground all the way over the fields and up to the moorland tops.
A large number (76) of Lapwing were noisly touring the area - perhaps wondering if the seaside was a good move ?
The heather looked great for just a few minutes and then the clouds rolled in and covered us up for the night. Fire on curtains closed already
