Diary of an Edinburgher

New Bed

A very lazy today, due to it persisting down outside - the remnants of Hurricane Bertha from the US, and I think it might get worse. Archie didn't seem to want to go out either - he had to be shoved out his doggy door for a piddle every so often. He was happy on the couch with us.

We caught up with a few recorded programmes. 'The Honourable Woman' which is so complicated I have to check out the Guardian episode blog each time to fill in a few the many details I missed. Also caught up on '56 Up'. I so clearly remember seeing the first programme, '7 Up' when I was at college (in 1968). Those little kids' faces are etched on my memory. Actually, it was the only thing I paid attention to at college.

JR and Archie did venture out eventually, and both came back drookit. Archie is now charging round and round the house like a demented almost-drowned rat, skidding on rugs. He races out his doggy door, but if he's carrying a toy, he comes to an abrupt halt. At the moment he's trying to come back in the dog door with his big football. Hilarious.

This is the last day of the Edinburgh school holidays - where did six weeks go? Mind you, we can't complain about the weather, and it's been really nice not jetting off somewhere for the whole time but just relaxing in our (still new) house. I enjoyed remembering last year's holiday on blip each day. We've had a fab time with Archie.

This is Archie's new bed. He loves it. His toys are not usually there - they are spread out all over the house, so we inevitably step on a squeaky toy, which is a signal for Archie to rush to it, from wherever he is, even from deep slumber, just in case it's a game in the offing.
