Iceland Parkway
Absolutely stunning drive over the Iceland Parkway from Jasper to Lake Louise. Spent the whole day stopping to admire views of snow covered peaks, glacial lakes, and gorges. Highlights were a visit to the Athabasca Gorge - incredible spectacle of the power of water/nature, and a trip up onto the Columbia glacier from the Iceland Centre. The latter trip was done on specially designed buses with bespoke gearing and huge tires. They actually took us up onto the glacier where we spent 30 chilly minutes wandering about at an altitude of 2200 m. The Iceland centre was the first point on our trip when it felt a bit " touristy" - with quite a lot of bus parties in evidence.
