One brave one

Nobody is more surprised than me to see a butterfly blip today.

We were told to expect high winds and rain, lots of rain, flash floods etc, in the wake of Ex hurricane Bertha. We certainly had damp, lots of damp and it wasn't very nice.

But in the early afternoon, the rains eased and there were moments of sunshine, although there was little warmth.

I hoped to catch a few dry moments for a walk to capture a few raindrop shots (there were plenty of those).

Imagine my surprise to see this one lone Gatekeeper. I think he was checking me out. Maybe he knew that it was the last day of the Big Butterfly Count for 2014 and he was determined to be logged (and blipped).

There was one Silver Y moth too, but he was no contest.

(there was an odd young man who had left his car in the middle of the car park while he went into the bushes to use his phone... I was a bit surprised..... I took his photo - but then he saw me and hastened away !!!)
