Urquhart

A pleasant jaunt out this morning on the Jacobean Queen, along the Caledonian Canal and out onto Loch Ness as far as Urquhart Castle and back. It was a bit windy and the Loch was choppy enough, what with some light rain and threatening clouds, to drive us off the deck and into the saloon after a while, barring intermittent forays out with the camera. Afterwards we wandered into Inverness via the Ness Isles, pleasant island parks in the river linked to the banks and each other by a series of footbridges, and had a combined lunch and dinner at Zizzi's, after which a nap seemed in order! Instead, we had a look round the museum and art gallery (though without much improving my limited knowledge of Scottish history!), did a bit of shopping (I bought a t-shirt with a Tunnocks teacake on it!) and went to see 'Boyhood' at the cinema in the Eden Arts Centre. Music: not really, but Song of the Day, naturally enough, was 'Hero' by Family of the Year.
