Remembering

My grandfather, Robert Laing Cowper fought with the Black Watch in World War 1, and he came home.

His brother, my Great Uncle, Alexander Cowper, also fought but with a different battalion of the Black Watch. Unfortunately he didn't come home. He was killed in the Third Battle of Ypres at Passchendaele and his name is written on the panels, along with over 8,000 other service men whose graves are unknown, at Tyne Cott Commonwealth Cemetery in Flanders, Belgium.

It's a magnificent and well kept memorial to these brave servicemen and one day I hope to visit it.

Never forget how much we owe to them, those that gave their lives for our freedom.
