Stowe, Buckinghamshire
We wandered around the impressive 18th century gardens at Stowe. They are one of the first great English landscape gardens and reflect the work of two people in particular: Lord Cobham and his nephew, Earl Temple. Stowe was 'Capability' Brown's first major commission. He was married here and lived in one of the Boycott Pavilions.
This shot shows the majestic Corinthian Arch in the background. The view of the arch is the first glimpse that you get of Stowe when approaching from the road.
