The Steamie

I was going for lunch in Alexandra Parade today and noticed this shop. What struck me was both the fact that it had a raised sign and that it was still operating as a laundrette.

This type of facia was really popular in the 1970s and it brought back memories. There's another travel agent in Great Western Road that I need to blip as it also has a very 70's look to it.

I also remember thinking that those using launderettes were possibly down on their luck a bit. Unsure if there was any truth in this thought but it's how I remember them.
