A Monsoon...
... broke out around 3pm! An incredible amount of rain and hail thrashed down and our new drain, still work in progress, is only looking sort of successful - rivulets still rushed down towards the house. This is the view from the conservatory out into the rainforest.
The rain did ease off for a bit and I wondered if a swim would be insane. Yes remarked Himself, but don't let that stop you. So I didn't. Cool clear water and only one jelly. Worryingly Portugese Men of War have been espied in West Cork and a young girl was seriously stung, going into shock on the beach. Fortunately a doctor was walking his dog and was able to come to her aid until she was airlifted to hospital.
If you get a chance do look out for the International Space Station going overhead at around 11pm tonight. I watched it last night in crystal clear skies and was amazed to see not one but two satellites following exactly the same orbit. A quick google and the extra satellite is the supply station - they're docking on tuesday, bringing in the chocolate. Not much chance of a view here tonight I suspect.
