Greengages

Before we came to live here 18 years ago I really can't say I had ever bothered much with greengages. Like plums, something you had stewed with custard...school dinner stuff!

However, we have two old trees in the garden which produce sweet delicious flavoured fruits which are great hot or cold, cooked or uncooked. Gordon Ramsey has a lovely recipe to cook the fruit in a sugar syrup with a vanilla pod, black pepper corns....wonderful flavour!

Anyway the greengages are nearly ready...yum!
