Street Repair
I am continually amazed at the differences between work in Mexico and work in the United States. This morning I passed by this guy clearing concrete from a hole caused by a broken water pipe (I assume seeing as how the hole was full of water). In the U.S. the street would have been blocked, the immediate area cleared, at least half a dozen guys (most standing around but a couple working) and most likely heavy equipment. Here there is one guy with a shovel and life goes on around the construction zone as if there is nothing different - stacks of produce being delivered to the market on his left are visible over his shoulder. There weren't even any warning cones, flags, or signs along the sidewalk, nor in the street, just a big pile of rubble to let the crowds of shoppers know something was up
