Base Camp

We left just after 10 o'clock and made good time to Portugal, stopping once for a coffee en route.

The journey is, for the most part, through beautiful, if somewhat barren, Spanish countryside, but quite spectacular in its own unique way.

Our hotel was easy to find. Well it would have been, if we had gone round the next corner instead of thinking we had gone too far and turning back to search the side streets.

It is everything we had hoped for and will be a great base from which to explore the area. There is a courtesy bus that goes round the other resorts in the MGM group here and so we can use all the facilities of the beach resorts and return to the comparative peace here at night.

Our suite is very comfortable, with a big bedroom, sitting room and kitchen area, plus a terrace with dining table.

I could easily live in it actually!
