Pine Cone

This is the inside of a pinecone collected during my walk in Dawyck Botanical Gardens yesterday. It had been sliced in half by a mower. Despite having many pine trees in our garden it had never occurred to me to see what the inside looks like, and I was surprised by it's beauty. You can see more pictures here.
