Just Playing

A touch of nostalgia here. We remembered science classes at school when we did paper chromatography on black ink, with results that surprised us. We thought we would try it on the dregs of our wine and this is the result.

I can't decide whether the clear section at the to is water or alcohol, my memory doesn't function that far back - especially after drinking the wine. I was a bit disappointed that the reds hadn't separated more. No doubt someone will offer an explanation. I don't intend to consult wikipedia about it.
