Close to nature

Had a wonderful day out today with a friend. We went to Martin Mere early so that we could be the first canoe out on safari. It was so peaceful and the water was still and undisturbed. We stopped a few times hoping to see the water vole but he never came out to play. It was a lovely hour but the highlight had to be the sight of the kingfisher as it darted away down the channel in front of us. What a brilliant and vivid blue it was. No chance of a photo though.

After refreshments we went for a walk around and found a new section which has opened this year which I didn't see on my visit the other week. This was the "Wild Walk" and what a wonderful section it is. I spent quite a lot of time trying to photograph the dragonflies and I am really pleased with this shot, worth going large.

We had lunch and then another walk. A great day.
