We have friend, Clarisse, who lives on the sea front and lets us keep our beach things at her place when the grandchildren are here. It saves us hauling them backwards and forwards each day in the car and means we can go to the beach on our bikes.

I told her that the children had finished their holiday and gone back to England - so she promptly washed all our towels for us.

A couple of bottles of wine was the least we could do.
