Amiens

Once again we were trying to avoid the rain and succeeded with our visit to Amiens. The weather was hot, sunny and a little muggy.
After a coffee, the children were given free time ~ this is a standing joke! As the children are now grown up. We 'give them free time' which gets them very excited and also means they don't have to stay with us oldies!!!! So, Mr C and I visited the wonderful, gothic cathedral which apparently could hold two cathedrals the size of Notre Dame de Paris!
We later met up with the others and had a walk around the towns canals (and of course, stopped for another drink!). We went and queued up to to book a boat trip around the hortillonnages (floating gardens) but we were told there was a two hour wait. We were all flagging after a few hours walking around in the heat so decided we couldn't do it ~ a great disappointment as I had really wanted to see them!

We have driven lots so far this holiday so tomorrow is going to be a chilled day..... And the weather is not looking good either.
