Highway to Kelowna

Today the 'real' driving started, leaving Vancouver with a first stop ar Hope (a very promising name for a small town of 6'000 habitants) and then continuing on this High Mountain Road with beautiful scenery. In winters with difficult driving conditions it becomes snow chain country.

The opposite then Kelowna, situated on the shore of Okonagan Lake. After some hundred kilometers of almost empty land it was astonishing to see that area. Full of life, many tourists enjoying the area and the lake. It is the warmest region in British Columbia and indeed our car thermometer showed up to 33 degrees Celsius. No wonder we went swimming after our arrival.

The other specialty of the region is then reserved for dinner: the wines. We already tasted some during the last days and were very surprised.
