Thoughtful

Chantler63's challenge today is thoughtful Thursday, with a suggestion of linking to the book club challenge.

I have just finished The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton, winner of the Booker Prize last year. It's set during the gold rush in New Zealand. It is a little too long and not many sympathetic characters but it does have an interesting story telling device.

So my thoughts turned to a golden blip today and whilst there is no gold rush in this house I have the safe keeping of this. It was from my mother-in-law to my daughter. They have many things in common, including having two sons but no daughters.

The other theme of The Luminaries is opium but I don't have the safe keeping of any of that.

Also, I read it on my kindle which I have used as the backdrop here.
