Day 5: America The Beautiful
All my life I have wanted to visit the Grand Canyon. The drive from Arizona was spectacular as we crossed vast stretches of untouched earth, as far as the eye could see. The desert-like homelands were a change from the lush green mountain views of the Gila National Forest, but still just as beautiful.
After a quick stop at a teaser scenic view, we arrived at the East Entrance of the Grand Canyon National Park. Luckily we started where there were fewer tourists and I was able to get some nice shots. The massive chasm is as gorgeous (ha, get it?!) as you would expect, stretching for miles in every direction. I definitely did not allot enough time for this visit, as I would have loved to hike to the bottom and camp overnight. I can only imagine what sunset and sunrise would look like. Guess I'll just have to come back another time :)
On the way to Las Vegas, we also stopped at the Hoover Dam. The man-made concrete monstrosity was a stark contrast to America's natural beauty.
