Not Porty People and Places

Doha Days comes to the shadow of the Festival Wheel and the Gothic Rocket (sic) Kaja333 this morning. This is L and her husband A who are on their first visit to our city. They are Dutch Nationals and L was an excellent member of my SLT in Doha. It was super to meet up and say a proper thank you and farewell having been unable to have done so in June due to my medical evacuation from the Gulf! Too bad the weather was not the most inviting but many visitors expect nothing less. As Whiskyfoxtrot says there is no such thing as bad weather - just inappropriate clothing!

I was in trouble with my daughter for getting my grandson's clothing wrong as we went on an expedition to "Granny's Beach" and "Papa's Park" complete with wet slide when he woke at 0600. We had the beach to ourselves and the playground too. Not sure who had more fun! We both had big appetites for our "toast" when we got home!

I was surprised by the Big Debate last night - not so much that both sides claimed a win but by the poor technical presentation of STV. Sound problems. Amateurish lighting with black holes on the rig and a breakdown in its attempt to live-stream this debate to the global Scottish diaspora. I have seen far better TV presentation in third world countries.

I would be very sorry to see our great country descend to these levels once we are divorced from the mothership of the current United Kingdom.
