Island

I headed down Orphir way and walked along the track by the Loch of Kirbister. Very sunny and pleasant. A few bonxies overhead moving south and a nice male stonechat flitted along before me. I noticed a big emperor moth on the track and photographed it.
Back along the track and across the road and down the side-road to Waulkmill Bay. This was made famous by Run DMC and Aerosmith in their song 'I took you to Wauuuukmill Baaaay. A few families there enjoying the sands but the tide was coming in rapidly and most retreated . Then onto the RSPB reserve of Hobbister and then the bus back to Kirkwall. More here.
