Narrow Way

When we first came here this was a 2 way road, which we have negotiated. It is now a one-way street with restricted access for residents, though you can see this doesn’t seem to apply to motorbikes and scooters (but not many regulations appear to apply to them). The roads in this part of town are so narrow the bin lorry (garbage truck) is a sort of 3-wheel (Piaggio Ape type) truck and is so small it has to collect the rubbish every day. After many, many years of wear, the cobbles are fabulously smooth and can be spectacularly slippery when wet. This didn’t stop V (of the 3rd generation of our Yugoslavian/Croatian friends) whizzing up and down them is rollerblades during his teenage years.
