216/365 A Pair of Painters

I walked in a small nearby arboretum today for the first time and was surprised (and delighted) to see several people throughout the area standing or sitting at easels, painting some portion of the landscape. Wow, I thought, this must be a pretty inspirational place! I approached one woman as I was leaving who told me that everyone I saw was part of a class working on plein air painting— landscape painting created in the open air as opposed to painting indoors from a sketch of the outdoors. It's true, you really do learn something new every day!
