Anniversary
I forgot to turn out the 'lamps' at 10pm and feel a little sad about that. The next four years one hundred years ago were dark days. I salute all those who were prepared to and all those who did make the ultimate sacrifice so that we can live the way we do today. This included my dear Granddad and his two brothers, one of whom did not return. I have honoured him several times in the past at his memorial on Vimy Ridge.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them.
I was woken at 4.47am today by a wet nose nudging my arm. Lottie decided she wanted to go out. I dragged myself downstairs to find that the back door was already open (some varnish was drying). If only Lottie had known this, she could have let herself out! The quid pro quo of being prepared to get up for her is that she rewarded me with coming to sleep on my bed until we got up. I love it when she does that. My lodger had to call out to me at 8am as he had no idea she'd left his bed to come to mine - hehe!
Work was fine. I went to the outdoor pool to swim afterwards and was rewarded by an empty pool, since while it was warm it was very cloudy and so the children were absent. I did several lengths which is usually out of the question. I am starting to feel more comfortable in my skin with the feeling of weightlessness and freedom I experience in the water; with the nice brown colour I am turning; with the constant exposure to others in my bathers; and with the feeling of becoming a little bit more fit and toned with each swim I do. This is a very good thing in light of my own particular demons. I also chatted to a couple of women about the pool generally and about ear plugs of all things! I drove home in my wet cossie and changed straight into pjs. Quite decadent I feel.
After a decent steak dinner, with some welcome chocolate to follow, I did some sewing, a hem on a dress and one of Lottie's teddies that she 'killed' and gutted earlier in the evening! Ch called for a chat too, which was nice.
