A Pioneer

Seems fitting to blip my grandad today. Pioneer Steedman, he made it through WW1 in the Royal Engineers. I don't know how though because he never ever talked about the war. I have a picture of his battalion before they shipped out to Gallipoli; there weren't many that came back. Last year I visited the Turkish Museum of Independence in Ankara where they have a really interesting display and description of the battle. Frankly, I'm amazed that any of them did get home.

Wonder if the politicians will ever learn. I doubt it.
