Quod oculus meus videt

Chillington Hall and Parkland

Very honoured this evening to be driven around the private estate of Chillington Hall by it's owner. We were discussing further project work on the Capability Brown 300 celebrations and he was pointing out some of the areas of parkland believed to be influenced the the landscape designer.

I am beginning to realise that it is very difficult to be definitive as to who actually designed which aspects of many of the landscapes attributed to the great man. In the circumstances I hope to capture the parkland in all it's glory and hopefully it will include some of the elements designed by Capability Brown. Here we are parked on one of the high points of the park, looking back northwards to the hall. In the foreground is the start of a canal that runs towards the great lake.
