Prize, with a handsome bookplate from the Headmaster, Malvern College: one of my grandfather's books, no doubt read while he learned his profession of Artilleryman at 'the Shop' - Royal Military Academy, Woolwich.

A helpful translator's preface notes that ' the footnote on page 258, lines 11,12, p. 263 and lines 12 to 25, p. 302 must be corrected in accordance with sec. 175 of Infantry Training, 1905, which has appeared since this work went to press.

The exercises do not include treatment of trench warfare; the Fifth Edition, however, introduced new matter 'bearing on Machine Guns and heavy Field Artillery, so far as they enter into the problems here dealt with.'
