Times Of My Life

Noddy Car

I've had this wee car for a while now. I call him Noddy, as in Noddy the Nissan Note. I am very fond of him, and he has more than paid for his keep over the years. His four little doors are excellent for getting grandchildren (the Burntisland Bandits) in and out of their car-seats, and old mothers and aunties can be transported in comfort while a wheelchair fits neatly in the boot.

It was my great-niece's 11th birthday last weekend, but it was only this Sunday that I had time to drive down with the family birthday presents. Mum and I set off at 3pm and had a nice wee visit with Kaitlyn and her brothers Brandon and baby Kian (who is really a toddler now, but so wee it's hard to believe he is 18 months).

We trundled back to Perth, proudly wearing our new friendship bracelets made by Kaitlyn and Brandon, and headed to Tesco for a bit of shopping for Mum. After buying up most of the meat counter, we headed to the photo-booth to get a new picture for her Disabled Parking badge.

What a laugh! I hovered outside while she sat on her wee twirly stool pressing buttons and arrows on command; any attempt by me to be helpful was met with a very stern "Be quiet! I'm listening to the woman"! When the expected strip of 4 identical passport size photos actually turned out to be a 5x4 self portrait, she blamed me for opening the curtain while it was being taken! Ach well, she's 86 - she can be bossy if she likes.

Eventually we did end up with a sheet of the right kind of photos, and headed home where her trusty West Highland Terrier, Milly, was waiting. And why don't I have any photos of any lovely wee children, Great-Grannies or cute wee dogs?

That's right, because I completely forgot until it was much too late. So, as I turned onto this road which means I am very nearly home, I stopped the car, jumped out and took this snap. It's a nice wee car, and it's a nice wee road, and it was a lovely Sunday afternoon out with my Mum.
